You quit seeing them, anyway.

Baits may work, but it's pretty hard to tell since generally ants have
taken up residence for quite a while before the homeowner spots any.

Carpenter ants, not so much, but IME they run straight to the highest
point in the structure to nest and there's plenty to eat completely
out of sight.

I don't **** around with ants of any kind. I kill them, without
depending on their cooperation.

This was maybe
five or more years ago. the Orkin guy wanted $175 per treatment, and
no guarantees.

I'm probably the only guy on the planet who ever offered a solid
guarantee for CA, but I don't think the $ was often less than 2x 175.

I'm not sure I'd want to
house kids in a building that used to have pesticides.

Then you probably wouldn't want to send them to schools, restaurants,
hospitals, etc., either.
