Normal people, men in particular can scare the hell out of a woman by
approaching when we aren't aware they are there. *I was returning

the library book drop. *Lots of traffic was going by making loud

sounds. *I turned to leave and a man was right behind me. *Geeze, a

scream came out of me and I yelled at him not to stand so close.

Another time I was loading groceries in the car and a guy came up to

while I was turned to the car. *I didn't scream this time, but it
startled
me. *It turned out he was going to take the cart back to the store.

So guys, say something before you get up close. *If we don't see you
coming
along, we don't know why you are so close and what the heck you're
going to
do.
