Some of the rest of us do, though.

They have natural gas powered cars in Bolivia. The gas has to be
compressed (a lot), it doesn't liquify at room temps. This means
they have quite limited range & the tank is really dangerous in an
accident.
The main cost thing is the power consumed compressing the gas.
