If they have actually gone brown, as stainless tends to do when overheated,
you will need a fairly abrasive polish, otherwise, there are plenty of metal
polishes in your local store. If you want to restore the original mirror
finish you will probably need a buffing wheel and the appropriate lapping
compound.

That is what I was expecting. Never having buffed any steel since I was
at school, I am out of touch with any of the modern polishing techniques.
