I don't know if anyone is interested, but I got some good tips from
this
great group.
I hired a professional to do the job, and I am quite pleased with the
results. I wanted to share this pic with you.

Thanks.

Hi, Kate. Thanks for posting the pic.
Oddly enough, that's very like the tile my n-d-neighbor had installed
*throughout* her house (except for the bedrooms). And the carpet is the
same ("Dusty Trail") I chose to install in my house.
Now I need to refurbish the entire bathroom, with new tub and tile for
the floors *and* walls. It's been 30+ years of pink with black trim!
Maybe I'll get some help with that here too.

Sounds like you have a huge job ahead of you. My next "hired out"
project is to remove carpet in my entry way, down the hallway to the
back door. I am having wood laminate flooring installed.

I know there are good/bad points to laminate but I have a small patch in
my entry way (it needs to be bigger) and it is as old as my home (11
years), and still looks like new.

That will be done next Thursday/Friday.

Good luck on your project.- Hide quoted text -

You can remove the carpet yourself and save a little $$.

It is too tricky for me. Part of it angles into the family room, so not
all of the carpet will be cut out. I did not explain myself too well.
