i recently stripped, sanded and re stained some cabinet doors and all
went well except after applying a clear coat sealer and letting it dry
the surface has little bumps on it. i noticed that whilst applying the
clear coat that there were a few little bubbles while still wet and
i'm assuming that the bubbles are now the hardened bumps. should i
try to remove these bumps with steel wool and reapply the clear coat
or wil i just scratch up the surface?
thanks, cj
what clear coat did you use? some can be coated over, some can't because the
2 coats won't bond unless the existing coat is abraded.
you can use a card scraper to remove bumps.
both the stain and clearcoat are minwax- Hide quoted text -

I think he means the original coat, not the new stuff. This sort of
thing can happen if any of the old stuff is left behind when you
finished sanding.
