Yes. Especially when following normal precautions.

3/4" plywood instead of:
a) Cutting into the stock, or
b) Stalling the motor
A 3HP cabinet saw will kickback a half sheet of 3/4" ply with enough
force to make you stop talk politics, if only momentarily.
