Why would the governor of Alaska be concerned about Africa? Was there
an African plot to invade Alaska? Spear chuckers in snowshoes would
be real threat and a sight to behold.

The (Republican) Governor of my state makes it her business to know a
lot about other countries. We trade with most of them, and we compete
with a lot of them. It's very important for the Governor to be aware
of the entire world and what is going on in it, because it DOES affect
individual states.
