That's the reality of the physical world - no belief necessary


I would claim that's more of an agnostic POV: "I don't care (or care to
decide) - I'm happy stuff exists...".

Being an actual atheist I think takes as much belief as believing in $DEITY.

Rather it's like having a counting system which doesn't predate the
concept of zero
