I've heard the cash back argument but I do almost all my major
shopping at Costco where we already get 2% back and they don't take
credit.

I always use my debit card and the bank offers some consumer
protection with ours.

I think credit cards can work well for those who use them wisely.
Unfortunately, the banks appear to be playing the odds.

Don't know about relative store counts, but there aren't any within an
hour of here, and some states seem to be skipped entirely. They seem to
be cherry-picking their store placements. Nothing wrong with that, of
course- you go where the money is. But that means a large percentage of
the population will never hear of you, much less walk through your door.
