Ignorant is outlawing studded snowtires in snow country.....In the summer I
can understand it , but in the winter , that is stupid....Still no specifics
on road damage caused by studs IN THE WINTER.....Canadiens....LOL...

Walking down my quiet residential street one day, 20 years after I'd
left northern Wisconsin for the southern California coast, I heard a
noise that was captivatingly familiar, emanating from a passing car. It
took me an impatient half a minute to place it, this sound from days
gone by. Yep, the sweet music of studded tires on dry pavement.

Even in snow country, the road is seldom covered with snowpack all
winter long. And on a sunny day, if lots of studded tires drive by, you
end up with 2 well-polished shallow ditches in the concrete or asphalt,
that form black ice at dusk, amazingly well. Indiana outlawed studded
tires in the 1970s.
