What are they used for?

These are used in wiring buildings where wire-eating rats are common.
The rats see the connectors, and assume no wires are present.


That doesn't make any sense because the wires would be visible.

Wouldn't you have to use nonwiring *wire* along with the nonwiring
wire connectors to fool the rats?


Rats are wily. Whatever you do, don't label the wire "compressed helium"
in an attempt to fool them. They love that stuff. Chewed through my
helium line in a dozen places and ran around talking like little mice.
