We used standard masonry bits in a rig to drill containers ["safes"].
They are steel and hardplate - a mix of harder & softer steel with chunks
of tungsten carbide thrown in.

On a good day you'd use 5-6 bits, on a bad day a dozen...

So I doubt aluminum would slow them down that much....
