Default DISASTER update - IMG_1057 [50%].JPG (0/1)

About two months ago my shop burned. Building included my
workshop, garden and lawn tool storage shed, and a large covered
patio.
Been a busy couple of months. Getting a list of personal
proberty and prices has taken forever. Searched the net, catalogues,
and many stores getting prices.
Check your insurance!!! My insurance has paid a lot, but it
could have been better. I have "replacement cost" with a limit.
That means they pay you the replacement cost less some depreciation,
but if you replace it with a similar item the will reimburse the full
value. Pays this extra only on what you replace.
Paid the max on my building (classified as other structures)
since it was totaly destroyed. It would take a little more than that
to replace it. However, I am building a shop twice as large. Also
bought a good prefab building for garden and lawn tool storage.
Paid 100% for fixing the broken windows and the vinyl siding
damaged by the heat on my house.
Fence repair is part of other structures....took a loss there.
A large oak tree damaged by the fire had to come out. Cost more
than they paid to take them out.
Some folks said put stuff I didn't have on the list of personal
property to make up for what they aren't going to pay. I'm no saint,
but I didn't, maybe I should have.
Building frame going up Monday. Concrete slab poured over the
old slab with some extra added. New shop will be 24 by 30 feet with
a 12 by 18 feet covered patio attached.
Will post updates as shop is built.
Any questions about insurance or anything about this experience
ask and I'll try to answer if I can help.
