Why? Most delivery companies won't accept a claim if you wrote "not
opened" or "not inspected" on the note. Of course the drivers don't want
to wait while every parcel is opened and inspected... Getting you to write
"damaged" on the note seems a logical work around of the delivery
companies rules.
