I knew how and why WD-40 was invented / discovered, and that it is
good for some things, but is not worth a darn for lubrication. *But,

A mix of facts and fiction. For openers, WD-40 has NO fish oil in it.

You can extrapolate the accuracy of the rest of the nonsense from
that.

Right Its mineral spirits and light oil mostly. It will not affect
fast drying enamel paints on a car, but don't let it sit too long. Its
been hinted that it contains some silicone's. It was banned at one
time by some US Air force on wings cause it caused cracks. I always
like using it as a flame thrower for killing insect nests and weeds.
The canned version has no propellant and is safer around car paint. It
does NOT displace water. It floats on water, but on electric circuits
it will displace water by flowing around on the flat surface. For more
info especially on contact cleaners see my page.....http://www.pitt.edu/~szekeres/cleaner.htm- Hide quoted text -

I spray it on the cheap fiber type of HVAC filters, let the filter set
out in sun a couple of hours to remove volatile residue then put them
back into the box until needed. The 50 cent filter now works as good
as the $3.00 filter.
