There are exceptions. Check out the Geisinger Medical Center in
Danville, PA Tertiary care medical center with research facilities,
residency programs, in a town of maybe 10,000. Most of the small town
hospitals around it are competant, some unusually good - Evan. Hosp in
Lewisburg, Williamsport Hosp, and Mt. Nittany Medical Center in State
College.
