Hi,

Does it exist simple interface boxes which enable a computer to control
airconditioners via IR remote control signals.

I imagine a box with ethernet or RS232/422 interface and IR LEDs
pointing at the airconditioner. Via a simple API one can set the
temperature and switch on/off the airconditioner from the computer.

Thanks for comments if anyone here have heard about or know about such
devices

Thanks in advance

First, you need to know the protocol used for the IR control. Just as
with TVs, a Sony remote probably won't work on a Bosch.

It is possible to control an IR interface on a computer (many older
laptops came with an IR interface for use with printers and PDAs).
Iinexpensive USB-IR adapters (under $10US) are available. The
problem is know what to send (the protocol used by the remote for the
air conditioner).
