Default Vibration of motor on a horiz. compressor

A while ago I posted a message about the motor on my Quincy compressor
vibrating wildly. This was not the motor from the compressor, but a 10
HP motor that I installed instead.

This is a followup to the story. The local Quincy service person's
suggestion was to check if the motor pulley is in the same plane as
the compressor pulley.

Today, I tried to align the motor with the compressor pump by
installing a different motor mount ($32 from McMaster), as the
original one did not fit my motor very well.

The result of this is that the motor vibration is gone more or less
completely, the belts are no longer wildly flying about, and the noise
has been cut down by half. In fact, outside of the garage I barely
hear the compressor run.

I also bought a new air filter with some noise dampening (from that
Quincy service place) and hope to install it soon. I will report if it
reduces the noise further.
