Wow - I've never seen brass slides (but I haven't looked either) but
that's the best suggestion I've seen!

Brass would work, but even just a couple of microinches of gold (like
1/1000 of an ounce, worth about US$1.00) would dress up a steel slide
enough to make it worthy of the box.
