When Republicans were last in charge of Congress we had +7% annual growth.


Let me assure you that I had nothing whatsover to do with bringing on
the sub-prime mortgage crisis.

I think I have a far more realistic idea of what's going on than the
Jim Thompsons of this world.

But apparently no idea that Freddie and Fannie had more debt than all
private US corporations combined and almost as much as the Federal
government.


I've heard die hard republicans say the USA won the vietnam war
because although the US lost 50,000, the Vietnamese losses were 3
million.

I've never heard Republicans do that kind of bean counting. I have heard it
was McNamara who did the bean counting, and he has become a hero to the left
since he started badmouthing our intensions instead of his own strategy.

And I've heard there were no die hard Republicans in the Kennedy or Johnson
administrations making the decisions that got us into it.

I've also heard that die hard Republicans didn't create Fannie or Freddie,
or write the legislation that defined their mandate or redefined it in 1978
and 1999, and that there were no die hard Republicans on the boards of
either of those GSEs.
