That's a lot of crap, Martin. What happened is that tax revenues
mushroomed
along with the economy, and outstripped expenditures.

Why don't you go look up the GDP, US budget, and tax revenue figures for
that period? It's not much of a challenge to find them.

This appears to be exactly what happened.

What then occurred is what always occurs when politicians, local,
state or federal, are next to any money -- they spent it all and
then some.

Across the country at all levels, governmental revenues have
[again] dropped below expenditures as the result of the economic
contraction.

There's nothing like cutting taxes while the economy is contracting to put
you in a deep hole. The heck of it is, tax cuts only stimulate the economy
when it's on the rise. Maybe Bush was flicking spitballs when they covered
that in his macroeconomics class. g
