** Read this to filter out the Crap! **

NewsProxy aka nfilter does that. Here's how it works:
NewsProxy downloads just a subset of the information in the
headers of all the posts.
It applies the filters you tell it to apply.
Any post that gets caught by a "drop" rule, doesn't get downloaded,
and it's headers do not even get to your newsreader. Nor do dropped
posts consume any bandwidth other than the header-subset download.
Undropped posts get downloaded, possibly modified if you told
it to do so, and displayed.
The Internet is so full of garbage these days that I run
NewsProxy (for USENET), SpamAssasin Proxy (for mail)
and Webwasher (for pop-ups, ads and so on). Good thing
I have a realtively-fast P4 and a DSL line.
So, is Newsproxy sort of like a plug-in that works in conjuntcion with
xNews or another newsreader? I use xNews also and don't quite have a handle
on filtering yet.
