I've stained my 5-year old cedar deck with Sikkens Natural Light Cetol
SRD-996 twice, but it doesn't wear well. Last spring, I power sanded the
thick gray film down to bare wood and restained. It looked beautiful. But
by fall, a grayish film was there again, although not as thick as before.
The
deck will need to be sanded and restained next spring. Is there a cedar
stain that will hold up better? We live in Minnesota.
Thanks!

Is it Cedar, use bleach to kill mold and Oxilic acid to remove grey,
you have to treat it every year or maybe some areas stain spring and
fall. Consumers reports has an ongoing maybe 8 yr stain test. Cabots
is good but a clear finish never lasts and is * * * * *alot * * of work.
Do you type alittle as you do alot? A lot is two words. Your otherwise lucid
posts are often marred by this misspelling. BTW - It's oxalic, with an 'a'.
