The first step would be to measure your shaft to know taper ratio, big and small end
diameters. I'm used to snowmobiles, those things used a 1:10 taper iirc, can't remember
nominal diameter.

I did a google, Amazon sells a Briggs with a tapered shaft.

I tried to figure out what taper is used but wasn't successful.

Once you know what you have, I'd check browning.
