i've had a dust sheet down for some time but on removing it i've
found a couple of small (size of a coin) areas where some paint has
got through and dried. from a distance you cant really see it but i
still want to remove it if possible. i've only ever used water based
paint so that should help i guess. so does anyone know how to remove
it without damaging the carpet?

its not thick blobs, its more like a trace of dried flaky paint stuck
to the twist pile. Very small and not very noticable but id still
like to remove it

How about steam cleaning it? - NB this may or may not be a bad idea;
just floating it for more expert comment!

I was going to suggest hot water & a little detergent aggitated with a stiff
brush, so steam should work. Emulsion comes out easily enough.
