PS: What is the rail-car gizmo? A railroad snow blower?
Yup. On the western slope of the Sierras, annual snowfall is commonly
over 500 inches. The record for one day is 67 inches. Over some of the
railroad tracks they build wooden tunnels, "snow sheds".
