I'm just in the process of building something for a friend and had to settle
on knotty cedar at $2.17 a foot for the 2x6" cedar. The knot free cedar was
$6.00+ a foot and redwood locally would cost more than that. There's no way
in hell I'm going to spend $1000 to build a cedar picnic table.
