There's a lot of "don't file a claim"-type paranoia out there. Some
of it is justified, and some is not.

It's worthwhile to ask your insurance company about their rate increase
guidelines. Often a single claim won't trigger an increase, but a second
one will. So next year if you have a $3500 claim, the $376 you just got
could get eaten up in a hurry. That's one reason many people choose to
pay for smaller repairs out of pocket.
