Well yes and no, if you recall Germany had Romania and the Ploesti Oil
fields. One does need oil, but the US involvement was to PROTECT it's OIL
Interests not to stop Hitler. Most of Germans in N. Afrika were there to
support and in treaty with the Italians to fight the British. Not all that
for the oil, which is one of the Reasons Hitler went to war with Russia,
when he went after Stalingrad he also drove south for their oil fields....
