Yes but switching to diesel saves precious little.

It probably saves about 30%.

It won't save more than about 25% at best.

That depends on what you are comparing..

I get almost double what the wife gets out of her smaller petrol engined
car.

Is it the way she drives?

Its easier to drive economically in a diesel.
