Firearms are very "green" . They can last for many many years are are
not often discarded in landfills

"[COLUMBIA] Whether you're shopping for a shotgun or an
energy-efficient washing machine, S.C. lawmakers want to give you a
tax break. This week, House lawmakers gave key approval to a bill
that: "8226; Exempts handguns, rifles and shotguns from state sales tax
during the biggest shopping weekend of the year. "Second Amendment
Weekend" is scheduled for the Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving
2009. "8226; Allows South Carolinians buying energy-efficient appliances
to also forego the state sales tax. Dishwashers, dryers, even
fluorescent light bulbs would be exempt from state sales tax from
Oct. 1 through Oct. 31. The tax-free Energy Efficiency Month also
would begin next year."http://www.heraldonline.com/109/story/576949.html

New assault rifle or a dozen CFLs?

I'm conflicted.

It sounds like very forward thinking to me. *The problem is that
there are too many people on the planet to make it sustainable. *More
guns on the street should cut down on the population and those that
are left won't need to worry about saving electricity because there
will be plenty to go around. :-)

Side story: The original bill was for then energy-efficient stuff.
Republicans added the gun idea as a "poison pill." The amended version
passed unanimously.

See, you can compromise with the earth-huggers.

At least in South Carolina.- Hide quoted text -
