The rats go up the pipe to the roof and look for holes to go into.
Corrugated iron has lots of rat-sized holes especially for rats!

Tie a slip-knot every so often in the rope so the rats snare
themselves in the noose. (Use the rope to pull the bodies out when
necessary).

With a piece of cheese by each loop, so that the rats stick their heads
through to eat it.
