Would it be this way if Gore or Kerry had been elected?

Likely not.

What, precisely, makes you say that? *It's just a belief of yours, but
you have no clue. *Most likely the mess would have been very similar.

It should be clear by now, that governments do not have a great deal of
control over what the financial markets, and the people who control
them, want to do.

All they can do is try to fix the problems, AFTER the **** has hit the
fan. *Savings and Loans debacle of some years ago, Enron, Worldcom MCI,
etc. *They were all "fixed" too late.

And after this one is over, the financial geniuses will very likely
device some new plans to fill their pockets at some point, something
will collapse again, and the government will again be caught with their
pants down.

Greed is a very powerful motivator especially in the hands of very smart
and powerful people.

It is just as good opinion as those who say Bush is not responsible
for the current fiscal disaster.

Personally I think they are suffering from lead poisoning and are
mentally deficient.

And since it is the Republican fiscal policy that has gotten us to
this point of meltdown, it is good enough for me to point the blame
squarely on the Republicans.
