Default filling hole in wall where cables used to be

You could use bonding plaster to do this. It's what they'd use on
site for this sort of job. If you fill it so it's just below the
surface and let it harden up a bit, you can then use finish plaster on
top to get a nice flat result. If you're not happy doing the finish
plaster then you could just skim it with regular filler and sand it
smooth when it's dry. Hope that helps
