Default SONY TV BE3D chassis - last ditch efforts...

Hi all.
Been asked to look at this sony KV25-C1 which seems to have the
typical AKB blanking problem due to worn tube (sound ok, pic takes
around 10 mins to come on). Will try adjusting the G2, but this
article caught my eye:
http://videotech.lesterville.com/akb.htm

especially the part:

" 1. Connect a 1K resistor between CN704/pin 1 and pin 3 on the CR
board for several seconds. A picture should appear on the screen and
remain when the resistor is removed.
2. If the picture remains, the white balance will gradually change
to the color of the IK Detect circuit that is defective.
3. If the picture disappears when the resistor is removed,
troubleshoot the components between the Y/C Jungle IC301/pin 25 and
4. R770 on the C Board. No IK signals from any of the video out
circuits are reaching IC301/pin 25.
5. If a picture does not appear, check the components CN304/pin 1
and Y/C Jungle IC301/pin 25. "

before condemning tHe set, which has a good picture when warm and un-
blanked, is it feasible to attempt to apply the above to this sony set
and bypass the akb circuit by means of a resistor? I'm at the stage
where there's nothing to lose as the set will have to be dumped , so
am open to ideas.
