Seems to me that that theory ought to imply that washing *before* is
more important than afterwards!


I've heard that before, from a physician.

Reminds me of a cartoon I saw years ago. Two guys are at the urinals, one
wearing coveralls and the other in suit and tie. They finish up, and Suit&Tie
goes to the sink, while Coveralls heads for the door. Suit&Tie says, "At
Harvard, we learn to wash our hands after relieving ourselves." Coveralls
tells him, "At the City College of New York, we learn not to pee on our
fingers."
