Default Electrolytic Capacitor Substitution Question

If this is a main filter capacitor, it will demand a much greater inrush
current when the supply starts up. I would order the correct value. You
could probably get away with a 150 to 220 mF cap.

With simple filtering circuits, in theory, the greater the cap value the
better the filtering. Just remember that when the power supply starts
up it has to bring the cap up to charge. A greater size cap will take
greater current during the charge time.

trying to repair RCA VR688HF VCR (because stand-alone VCRs
apparently are not manufactured/sold anymore), have reviewed
most of VCR repair FAQs, done most of things suggested there
except replace components in power supply, VCR still has
symptom of erratic behavior.

found 5 caps questionable in PS with power on, scrounged
duplicates for 4, have not found a cap substitution FAQ. the
5th cap is 100mf/200v.

question: if i substitute a 560mf/200v for the questionable
100mf/200v, would this cause damage or just better filtering?
