Default Tide level measurement...

Hi,

I would like to include tidal data at my weather station page. Which
type of senser do I use for this? I assume that I should use a rugged
plastic tube with some ultrasonic sensor to measure distance from the
top down to the sea surface. Max level difference around 2m.

Does it exist used equipment available (ebay etc) for this usage?

Thanks a lot for all tips and comments ;-)

Some info here on gauge types
http://www.pol.ac.uk/ntslf/tgi/
what would be interesting is doing a graphical comparison between actual and
predicted tides , like this one for Bournemouth, England ( i regularly
monitor that one and Portsmouth as predictors for Southampton VTS which has
only a near real time gauge numerical output to the internet, but difference
of real over/under predicted is often more important)

part of http://www.pol.ac.uk/ntslf/
perhaps using WXtide32
http://www.wxtide32.com/
a freeware application, if your location is included for the predicted.
