I haven't bothered to follow the thread in detail, as I've heard
the pseudo-scientific arguments before. As to some of the other
posters, there is a strong "apres moi le deluge" component
to their " thinking". Don't they have children -- grandchildren?

What I found particularly delightful was the series of posts -- some,
ISTR from Adams? -- denouncing, in paranoid terms, the thousands of
responsible scientists, as well as concerned citizens, as belonging to
"movements" aimed at turning the US into a "socialist paradise", and
linking those concerned with our posterity to Save the Whales, Mothers
Against Drunk Driving, etc. Their POV on 9/11, fluoride, etc. must
make hilarious reading.

Thanks. Regardless of how one feels about global warming, the deniers
seem like the person who will spend the last dollar in his bank
account
without regard for whether they'll need it for a rainy day. Frankly,
my view
is that petroleum is so valuable for its non-fuel uses that it's
absurd to
burn it for its energy value. (Of course, I'm not a chemist; perhaps
the
results of cracking crude oil yield plenty of goodies apart from
fuel. I
should take a look; it might be interesting reading.)

Cindy, since you're so knowledgable about CO2 and global warming,
what's the answer to my question? You've seen those graphs that show
3 complete cycles of minor warming/cooling and CO2 levels over the
last 700,000 years. The graphs are all over the internet, you can
pull them up from various sources. These are the graphs AL Gore uses
when he laughs and says "See any relationship?" And sure enough Temp
and CO2 rise and fall together. But what no one will address is
this:

If CO2 CAUSES global warming, why, in every one of those cycles, does
the graph show that TEMP starts going up 200 to 1500 years BEFORE CO2?

I've heard reputable scientists, including an ocean scientist at MIT
offer a very straightforward and logical explanation: The big
reservoirs of CO2 are the oceans. As the Earth warms due to some
other cause, most likely the Sun, the oceans start to release more
CO2, just like a warming soda bottle. Because the oceans are so deep,
it takes hundreds of years for the release to raise the CO2 level in
the air.


And your explanation would be? See if you can find one from any of
the global warming alarmists. And if they don't have one, while
dismissing anyone that raises even a simple question like this as some
kind of holocaust denying idiot, doesn't that bother you?
