Default Which binary for repair picture?

It appears that you and I, along with some others, are looking at this
from opposite ends. You appear to be looking at it from the "viewing
the picture" end, while others are looking at from the "where the
picture ended up" end.

This is how I'm viewing what happened to you in the past. I have no
doubt that you will correct me if I am wrong.

Hypothetical situation:
1 - I'm a regular participant in a NG entitled rec.fits-ga-wizies.
2 - rec.fits-ga-wizies allows binaries to be posted.
3 - You are regular participant in a NG entitled alt.cay-var-masums.
4 - alt.cay-var-masums does not allow binaries to be posted.
5 - You have a binary related to cay-var-masums that you want the
world to see.
6 - You post that binary in rec.fits-ga-wizies and point everyone from
alt.cay-var-masums to it via a link.
7 - I (see #1) let you know that rec.fits-ga-wizies is not the correct
place to post binaries related to cay-var-masums.
8 - You (see #3) think I'm being petty when I complain about where you
posted your binary because you don't think it matters if the NG name
doesn't match the subject matter of the binary.

So, assuming that's all true, let's see what various netiquette sites
say about articles, which can just as easily be said about binaries...

Be careful of crossposting. Post your article to only to appropriate
groups.

It is considered bad form to post both to misc.misc, soc.net-people,
or misc.wanted and to some other newsgroup. If it belongs in that
other newsgroup, it does not belong in misc.misc, soc.net-people, or
misc.wanted.

Select a group
Generally, post your question or article to the group that is most
suitable for the topic. See How to find the right place to post (FAQ).
Specifically select a group which is as specific as possible.

You know I could go on and on.

So regardless of the fact that you think it's OK to post OT binaries
anywhere that you like, many others don't agree. Enough "others" that
many, many people have written "rules" about it. I won't even argue
about who's right and who's wrong. I'll simply offer this: There is
a suggested and accepted alternative to posting binaries in a NG that
isn't related to the subject matter - use any of the multitude of free
picture posting websites. It's not that hard and it doesn't upset
anyone.

What could be better than that?
