Use plaster sealer. With any other method (PVA or diluted paint) you
may get away with it, you may not.
We asked in B&Q for it and they don't even sell their own. Someone
else was there looking for it too. They recommended emulsion
We went to focus and they don't stock it either. They recommended PVA.
