I waited a couple of weeks and three years later the walls are fine.

And should you pva seal all romos or just bathrooms and kitchens?

All rooms. If you don't seal the plaster, the dry plaster sucks much of
the water out of the paint and your paint does not go on properly.

The sealing is to protect the paint not the wall!
