I think they recommended eb-ty with 2x, but I'm really not sure - it
was 7 years ago and I knew I was using 1x before I started
researching. I do remember that a little googling found tons of
installation advice.

With ipe, you don't want to skimp on the fasteners. For one thing,
the deck will last longer, so the fasteners will see more years of
weather. Also, have I mentioned that the ipe is very hard?
