There are some questionable electro. caps that I'm trying to replace.
These are the old "can" style caps and the color codes are written in
Japanese (I believe) on the side of the can. There are 3 color dots;
yellow, white and red but I don't know which value they're supposed
to be as the sections all read low.

Can anyone tell from the side of the can what the designations are?
If so, please take a look at the picture on my site posted.

I e-mailed Mom your photo, and she said that the translation is:

(red) 2.0uF (the thing that looks like "T" and an upside
down "U")
(yellow) 1.0uF (The double-crossed "T", the "T" with the tilted
top, and the box)
(white) C (diagonal line with the quote marks, the funny-
looking "A")
250 VWAC
1969
Hitachi (trademark symbol)

She asked if it was a motor capacitor and if "C" meant "common" or
ground. She also expressed disappointment when she realized my
message wasn't about me finally learning Japanese.

Johnny (and everybody);

Thanks so much for your help. I sure enjoyed reading the postings on
this one !
As it turns out, this morning I found a guy here locally that has a
few similar vintage caps used, but appearantly in good enough shape to
let me meter the values off and identify the beast. My findings
concurr with Johnny's.

I wrote the designations in on the cap in the photo for all to see.

So this should end the mystery once and for all.

Thanks again,
