In the US the drinking age is almost universally 21. Was 18 for a while
after the 18 year old vote passed, but the Federales decided that
raising it to 21 would cut down on underage DUI deaths (are the brains
of legislators surgically excised when they win an election?) and
started withholding highway trust fund money from states with lower
ages.
