burglar bars.

All the houses here have one or two windows at ground level, which is
just below the ceiling of the basement. Before I got here there was a
string of burglaries from almost certainly the same guy kicking in the
glass and sliding down into the basement.

So almost everyone at least near me has bars in that window. Very
cheap and easy.

OT: I only have 2 neigbors out of 109 that I don't like and one lives
2 doors away. They must not know about the burglaries, and I found
their bars in the trash. I took them to give to someone, anyone, but
now I wonder if they know why the bars were put in, other than the
obvious. Should I tell them about the burglaries?

Why I don't like them: Despite repeated complaints, they constantly
walk their dog, that looks like a pit bull, without a leash. Before
that, for years I would say hello, and she would ignore me. Her
daughter was very friendly when I was giving out bubble gum for a few
weeks, but after I ran out, she never said a word to me again.
