I'm curious as to how you propose he has 100 year old wiring in a 50 year

Its likely you cant sell your home because homeowners doesnt want K&T
and neither do mortage companies......

You have 2 issues, a op[en neutral which MUST be fixed IMMEDIATELY!
and K&T more of a long term issue........
