Years ago I had a large fish tank for quite some time. I think the main
tests I used to do were PH, Hardness, Total Alkalinity. These are older
memories so don't hold me to it.

So I'd say they may/may not be related but they are definately not the
same. I imagine people familiar with pool water would be up on this.
