Default Furnace and AC prices -

I live in Missouri and am a first time home buyer. The home we are
looking at buying has an ancient furnace and central air conditioner.
I'm having a lot of trouble just finding what a new furnace and air
conditioner might cost. Can anyone give me a range for furnace and for
ac in US dollars? Thanks

First, Check the ductwork so you know its condition, & what airflow it
will carry within the requisite static pressures & velocities for the
required cooling tonnage.

Read the linked pages to learn hopefully enough to make good decisions.

Get a lot of quotes & know the reputation of the contractor you select,
because the manual J load calc & Manual D duct evaluation are critical
to a good performing system! If it costs too much to upgrade the
ductwork, -there are ductless systems you can use. Soleus Air units have
the best airflow per ton of cooling that I have found (-/+400-cfm per
ton of cooling). - udarrell
